Tax Hikes Will Force More Michigan Residents Out
Gov. Granholm's call to raise taxes yet again in order to fix the latest budget overspending crisis she and the Legislature have created will send more Michigan residents packing, according to this Op-Ed in The Oakland Press, Grand Rapids Press, Dearborn Times-Herald and Detroit News by Morey Fiscal Policy Director Michael LaFaive.
LaFaive has addressed how tax policy impacts Michigan's out-migration several times. You can read about it here, here and here.

Michigan's gift to Texas? People
I agree with the idea that people vote with their feet, and that lower taxes and lighter regulation are a superior route to prosperity, but I object to your use of rankings. I recognize that your purpose is to move public opinion rather than illuminate the issues, but I would prefer actual numbers or percentiles. To say that Michigan is the 43rd economically freest state while Texas ranks 31st, is not to say anything particularly significant. The underlying numbers could be quite close.
